Capromorelin by Pfizer
Pfizer Inc, founded in 1849, is given to applied research on
better human health and manufacturing useful products for
helping cope with health problems of both humans and
animals. Treatment of a nd
education about medical conditions are the aims of Pfizer
Inc. treating problems arising from growth hormone
abnormalities has been a major area of Pfizer Inc. It has
manufactured drugs in treating two main kinds of hormonal
abnormalities: Adult growth Hormone Deficiency (aGHD) and
Growth Hormone Deficiency in Children (GHD).
Preparing
Capromorelin
The news of Capromorelin preparation has been announced June
21, 2006. The drug is specifically meant for treating
symptoms associated with GHD. Primarily these include
increased body fat (abdominal fat in particular), low muscle
mass in the body, and general body dysfunction resulting
from weakness and underproduction of growth hormones. The
principal researcher of this Pfizer project is Dr. George
Merriam of the University of Washington. Under his
supervision, Capromorelin was tested on nearly 400 subjects
ranging in age from 60 to 84. The results were encouraging
for the team and now the drug needs FDA’s approval to be
sold in the market. This is not certain, since FDA does not
consider aging as a disease.
Hope for
the Elderly Folk
Capromorelin is Pfizer’s bright hope for sufferers of
age-related problems like increased fat, muscle decline, and
impoverished movement coordination. By stimulating
production of natural growth hormone within the body,
Capromorelin promises a relatively risk free prospect of the
aging folk looking after themselves and living healthier,
more independent lives. Capromorelin has not yet been
studied to see if it has major influence on cognitive
capabilities, though coordination in movement is a sign of
cognitive progress.
